The department functions as a part of the Division of Transfusiology.
The Department of Hematopoietic Stem Cell Collection, Processing and Storage of Bone Marrow and (or) Hematopoietic Stem Cells performs scientific and methodological work in the field of improving procedures for therapeutic hemapheresis, the modification of hematopoietic cells and cryopreservation and storage of biomaterial at ultra-low temperatures.
The department performs the following functions:
- performing research work, conducting scientific, clinical and experimental studies
- provision of specialized medical and transfusiological care
- providing organizational, methodological and advisory assistance to healthcare institutions on the issues of therapeutic hemapheresis, cryopreservation and organization of long-term storage of biomaterial at ultra-low temperatures

Vladimir Galuzyak- transfusiologist. Vladimir Galuzyak graduated from the 1st Moscow Medical Institute named after I. M. Sechenov in 1984 and completed his clinical residency at the Russian Scientific Center of Surgery named after B. V. Petrovsky in 1986. Since that time, he has worked at the NMRC for Hematology. First, he worked as a researcher in the surgical department. In 2013 he began working as a transfusiologist in the Department of Blood Collection and Cryopreservation. In 2014 he was named the Deputy Head of the Department of Cell Processing and Cryopreservation for Therapeutic Hemapheresis. From 2019-2022 he worked as the head of the Department of Hematopoietic Stem Cell Collection, Processing and Storage of Bone Marrow and (or) Hematopoietic Stem Cells.

Olga Bayteryakova graduated from the State Educational Institution of Higher Education of the Moscow State Medical University named after A. I. Evdokimov of the Ministry of Health of Russia, Faculty of Medicine (2011) with the specialization — Doctor of Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics, Transfusiologist. In June 2013 she was named Deputy Head of the Department of Blood Cell Processing and Cryopreservation.
