As part of the Division of Orphan Diseases, the Sector for the Study of Non—Tumor Diseases of the Blood System was formed in 2022- a scientific unit engaged in the development of scientifically based programs for the diagnosis and treatment of hereditary and acquired non-tumor hematological diseases.
Main areas of work:
- development of an individual approach to the pathogenetic therapy of Gaucher disease based on a comprehensive assessment of the activity of the disease, taking into account the clinical and metabolic phenotype
- optimization of immunosuppressive therapy programs for autoimmune hemolytic anemia based on the study of the functional activity of the B- and T-cell links of the immune system
- development of approaches to overcoming the ineffectiveness of complement inhibitor therapy in patients with paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria
- analysis of iron metabolism in hematological patients and determination of optimal chelation therapy regimens for hereditary and acquired iron overload syndromes
- identification of approaches to the treatment of hereditary hemoglobinopathies aimed at correcting ineffective erythropoiesis
- creation of an algorithm for the diagnosis and treatment of acute porphyria in order to prevent irreversible damage to the peripheral and central nervous system
